Hello,
I had flown over to California to spend Easter there. Time difference to home? 9 hours. And I flew back today to attend Top Marques, “the most exclusive show in the world”, tomorrow in Monaco.
So my circadian rhythm got quite messed up … and I didn’t want to deal with extra jet lag in addition to recovering from exhaustion.
Here are a few things that helped me to overcome jet lag quickly and easily and will hopefully help you too …
Enjoying the sun …
As soon as I could after arriving I got out into the sun to let my body ‘know’ the local day time so my circadian rhythm would adapt to the local time as quickly as possible.
Grounding …
I also grounded myself walking barefoot in grass/in the sea after arriving and first thing the next morning to balance out the positive ions that had built up during the long flight.
Supplement with …
Glutathione (to reduce oxidative stress built up throughout the flight), Omega 3 (to replenish cell membranes depleted by DHA as pointed out by Jack Kruse), B Vitamins (for mitochondrial support). And – as it got such glowing reviews – I also tried No-Jet-Lag, a homeopathic supplement to be taken about every 2 hours during the flight.
Enjoy the heat …
Even though I didn’t manage to do that in California but after my arrival back here in France I went to a sauna as recommended by biohackers Tim Ferriss & Ben Greenfield. Not sure why it works but it really does help to avoid or reduce the impact of jet lag on your body and mind.
If you can combine the heat with humidity to rehydrate your body not just internally but also externally, even better. So if you find a Turkish bath, a hammam or a Russian banja, go for it.
Quote I’m reflecting on …
